TiVo has published the specifications of the Home Media Option for developers. The JavaHMO implements these specifications which allows a TiVo box to connect to it and serve image and audio media:

1. TiVoConnect Discovery Protocol
2. TiVo Home Media Option: Music & Photos Server Protocol
3. TiVo Beacon API
